This album brings to completion, work that started in 2018 in which Kumodi explores the vast african indigenous sonic landscape. Using samples and field recordings, he attempts to capture the magic of trance-like states and spaces as experienced by the Khoi and San Shaman and rain makers. The artwork makes use of the Africa giant mantis, the physical manifestation of the trickster God.
It reminds me of a time I don't think I'll see again. A place in history that seemed endless in possiblity, but was always tethered to an eight year term. This is what my halcyon days sound like. James
